Authentic Smoked Lapsang Souchong from Tongmu Guan – traditional pine smoke aroma, longan sweetness, and a smooth, mellow taste.
Historical Background:
Lapsang Souchong originates from Tongmu Guan in the Wuyi Mountains and is considered the ancestor of all black teas. According to legend, during wartime in the late Ming dynasty, tea farmers used slow-burning pinewood to speed up the drying process. This accidental innovation created its signature smoky aroma. Rich in fragrance and smooth in taste, it was beloved by European royalty and became one of the first Chinese black teas to be exported overseas.

Smoky flavor has become increasingly rare in today’s world of Lapsang Souchong, but this was the original, authentic taste of traditional Lapsang Souchong — especially those from Tongmu Guan. With varying rainfall each year and pinewood restriction, production is inconsistent, making this tea a rare find. Only the fortunate have the chance to experience it. I wanted to share this unique smoked lapsang souchong with more people, to let them taste and appreciate its distinctive charm.
