Tea Variety:

Historical Background:
Tongmu Guan Masu Lao Cong is a rare gem among lapsang souchong black teas. It originates from Masu village in the Tongmu Guan area and is known as “Lao Cong” (old bush) due to its ancient tea trees and untouched natural environment.
According to local tea farmers, many of the tea trees in Masu are over 100 years old, grown from native cultivars in high-altitude forests. These ancient trees produce tea full of vibrant energy and bold mountain flavors. The region is known as one of the earliest and most important birthplaces of lapsang souchong.
Thanks to their age and deep root systems, these old tea trees absorb rich nutrients from the soil. The resulting tea has a steady, layered aroma, with a distinctive woody-resin note and aged complexity — a prized rarity among teas.

Design Inspiration
The founder of Rockborn Tea was born and raised in Wuyishan, where tea has always been part of daily life. Now with decades of tea-tasting experience, she has developed her own preferences and tea taste philosophy. While she enjoys tea from her own tea mountains, she also loves visiting the homes and tea farms of friends throughout Wuyishan to discover and share great teas together.
The idea for the Xun (“The Season of Lapsang Souchong”) series was inspired by the ever-changing nature of Wuyi teas — differences in rainfall, sunlight, and weather each year can affect the flavor of the tea. One year, the best tea may come from one farm, and the next year, from another. Every season, the founder embarks on tea-hunting journeys across Wuyishan to find the tea she most recommends that year.
In this "Season of Lapsang Souchong", Rockborn Tea's founder personally journeyed across several tea mountains of Wuyishan, in search of rare, soul-stirring, ancient tea trees. Finally, deep within the legendary Tongmu Guan, she discovered a true treasure , the scarce and legendary Masu Lao Cong. These tea trees has been grown in Masu for over 80 years. The flavor is deep and evocative - carrying the untamed wilderness of old tea forests, layered with mellow woodiness, forest fruit sweetness, and a soft, honeyed texture.
Each box includes a bilingual Chinese-English card introducing the tea’s characteristics, flavor profile, roasting level, and cultural background.
